In Matthew 13:19, Jesus says,
“When anyone hears the Word of the kingdom, and does not understand it,
then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in this heart.
This is he who received seed by the wayside.”
Jesus says if anyone hears the Word and doesn’t understand it, then Satan comes to steal the Word that was sown. If you’re hearing the Word preached and you have sickness in you body, and you hear “By His stripes you were healed”… now, if you hear that and your response is “I’ve heard that before, but I’m still sick,” then you’re not VALUING the Word. You have to believe it and receive it.
In Proverbs 4:1, it says,
“Hear, my children, the instruction of a father,
And give attention to know understanding."
To KNOW understanding… there’s a difference between what you’ve heard and what you know. Give your attention to the Word. That’s when it becomes effective.
In Proverbs 4:2-4, it says,
“For I give you good doctrine: Do not forsake my law. When I was my father’s son,
Tender and the only one in the sight of my mother, He also taught me, and said to me:
‘Let your heart retain my words;
Keep my commands, and live,’ “
So, if you want the Word to bring LIFE, your heart has to hold on to it.
In Proverbs 4:5, it says,
“Get wisdom! Get understanding!
Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.”
If the Lord is saying you need something, then you need to go get it! And if He says to get it, then that means it’s available to you.
What’s available? Wisdom and Understanding
Do not forget. Don’t go back to the way you were before you got wisdom/understanding.
In Proverbs 4:7, it says,
“Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom,
And in all your getting, get understanding.”
