this message, you’ll remember it. I’m going to refer to it but I’m going to come to it with more revelation
and come to it with a different angle.
#1 – You’ve got to understand that you live everyday to please God, and it’s walking in that,
pleasuring God, that you find significance and fulfillment in life. Okay?
I love to read testimonials because when I know that God used me in some way to alter somebody’s
life in a positive way, I can’t tell you how good that makes me feel. Even though what I did may have
been sacrificial. Even though what I did may have made me have to work long hours. Even though
what I did may have been a tremendous inconvenience to me. When I realized that God used
something that maybe I didn’t even enjoy that much and brought something good to somebody else’s
life, that lets me know when I’m pleasuring God on that level that’s where I get great satisfaction and
fulfillment.
> I don’t chase things… I chase to pleasure God.
> I don’t chase stuff… I chase to pleasure God.
> I don’t chase the favour of people and the opinions of people… I chase just to please God.
That is a lesson I think you learn over time. It’s hard to get it in a sermon. It’s hard to get it in a day.
But God slowly during life frees you from pleasing everybody else, and most of all frees you from
the pursuit of pleasing yourself, because we live in a world of, “I just want to be happy.”
Well why did you do that, “Because I want to be happy.”
Well why did you leave them, “Because I want to be happy.”
Problem is… nobody happy. More people on pills today than there ever been. Why? Because
they are trying to raise up their happiness. But Jesus said it from the onset,
“He who tries to save his life, is going to lose it.”
But He said,
"He who will lose it, his life for My sake, that person will find it.”
And when you are willing to give up the things you want and do the things God wants, then you
find why you were put here. And ain’t that what this WHOLE series is about? Is answering the
question,”Why?”
"Why are you here?” ...
> You’re here because He chose you. He predestined you. And when He shows you what that
mystery of life is, it will bring Him pleasure. And when you LOSE your life, you will find out the
reason you were born.
Now, when you find out that you are here to pleasure God, it changes the way you look at your job.
It changes the way you view your spouse. Okay, I’m here to pleasure God, so how do I treat my
spouse? See, you don’t want me to bring it down and make it real. I’m not just going to stay up in
the clouds. I’m going to bring it right down where you live. Now, I’m not here to pleasure my spouse.
I have a spouse and I’m here to pleasure God. So how would it please God for me to live with them?
How would me directing and disciplining my kids – not please my kids – how would it please God?
How would managing my money not please me but please God? How would running my day and
handling the activities of my day not bring me pleasure but how would it please God?
See then you’ve got to go,
“I’ve got to run my day where it don’t bring everybody else pleasure.”
See, you don’t know how many people I make mad in a day’s time because I can’t do what THEY
want me to do! But I have a list of things that I have to do to please God and that means I can’t get
around to the list of pleasing everybody else.
So when you live in such a way where you are just trying to please God, it touches every part
of your life because the questions that you ask yourself begin to CHANGE.
