An electric lamp is the most transparent object I know, no hidden faults, but just a mere ornament.
In itself it is useless for anything – like us. Jesus said that without Him we could do nothing. We
can be of transparent reputation, a model of virtue, an ornament of the church, but in ourselves we
are useless.
The electric lamp is not a lamp at all without power. We are in the same position, useless without
power. Now look at the same dead bit of glass and wire when the current passes into it.
What happens? The filament glows white hot, radiant. It gives light to all that are in the house.
It is the power that makes the difference.
Jesus said “You shall receive power…” (Acts 1,8)
