Luke 8:48-50 (King James Version)
“And he said unto her,
Daughter, be of good comfort: thy FAITH hath made thee whole; go in peace.
While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue's house, saying to him,
Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master.
But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying,
FEAR NOT: believe only, and she shall be made whole.”
Don’t fear. BELIEVE. Most people would just give up, but Jesus said to not be afraid, but believe. When things come your way, you have to immediately say the Words of God, that all will be okay.
Fear creates more fear. You have to control your fear.
Fear Attracts:
Job 3:25 (King James Version)
“For the thing which I greatly FEARED is come upon me,
and that which I was AFRAID of is come unto me.”
A lot of people compare themselves with Job. If you constantly think something bad will happen,
then it just may happen. When we fear, our body starts changing, sweating, etc. it attracts fear, and the
devil knows this. And he starts throwing bad things your way.
When we stay on God’s path, the devil cannot touch us. The devil is “as” a roaring lion… but he is NOT a lion.
The devil is a defeated foe. A lot of times, we are afraid of people/relationships.
Jeremiah 1:8 (King James Version)
“Be NOT AFRAID of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.”
When we’re doing what God has called us to do, then we can have the confidence.
Fear and Death:
Hebrews 2:14-15 (King James Version)
“Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood,
he also himself likewise took part of the same;
that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
And deliver them who through FEAR OF DEATH were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
In a biological sense, fear is related to death.
Fear can lead to death. When irrational thoughts come our way, it takes great effort to overcome them. For example: horror movies. There are things we can do to keep these thoughts out, and we need to trust God.
Fear Indicates:
> Lack of trust.
> Lack of knowledge.
> Lack of confidence (usually a lack of confidence in ourselves).
> Lack of control (panic attacks).
Faith Says:
> I TRUST…
Proverbs 29:25
“The fear of man bringeth a snare:
but whoso putteth his TRUST in the LORD shall be safe.”
> I have KNOWLEDGE…
Isaiah 33:6
“And wisdom and KNOWLEDGE shall be the stability of thy times,
and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is his treasure.”
> I have WISDOM…
1 Corinthians 1:30
“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us WISDOM,
and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption”
Knowledge is the input of information (reading). Wisdom is knowing HOW to apply knowledge. We need to pray to God to take the knowledge, and have wisdom to use it. You have the ability to increase knowledge.
Proverbs 3:26
“For the LORD shall be thy CONFIDENCE, and shall keep thy foot from being taken.”
If you’re having trouble with confidence, take these verses and read them. We have access to smart phones, sticky notes, etc., to constantly keep these verses in front of our eyes.
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath NOT given us the spirit of fear;
but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND.”
I have a sound mind.
We need to mediate on the word. The devil sends fear – it is a spirit. The spirit of fear will, if you let it, torment you. Don’t input your mind with fearful things, because those thoughts will replay in your mind when you go through a similar situation.
Fill your mind with the Word of God. Find out what God has for you.
Psalm 23:4
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I WILL FEAR NO EVIL:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.”
I will fear no evil. Why? The Lord is my shepherd. We need to look to Him for protection. Sometimes,
that “comfort” is a little bit of a correction. He corrects you (“rod” and “staff”).
Luke 12:22
“And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you,
Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat;
neither for the body, what ye shall put on.”
Jesus said He will take care of us. Trust God and don’t do it in a fearful action.
Luke 12:32
“FEAR NOT, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Do not fear. When things look dark around you, mediate on these two verses. Do this now BEFORE the bad situations/storms come, so you will have WISDOM.
