Sometimes we need to do something before it happens. The reward is the bonus.
Matthew 5:48
Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
Be perfect as God is perfect…reaching a maturity level.
Why are we serving?
Matthew 6:1
“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them.
Otherwise you have no reward from your Father in heaven.
When you do a righteous act for God; not man. Otherwise, that’s your reward. God’s reward is eternal.
There are 10 different crowns we can get as Christians. Everything we do is FOR Jesus. We will lay
down our crowns at His feet in Heaven. 2012 is going to be a year of ‘Service’.
Recommendation:
Find someone in the next 2 weeks that you can help, but that person will never know you did it. Bless
someone, but don’t get any recognition from man. We have to do the right thing for the right reason.
In Matthew 5, 6, and 7 Jesus gets to the heart of these things. Man has taught the wrong thing: In
the Old Testament it says to love your neighbor. But the religious people added, ‘Hate your enemy’.
This is a tradition of man.
Colossians 3:17
And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks
to God the Father through Him.
Do and say it through Him. Example: You have to be a representative of the company your work for.
Matthew 5:20
For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes
and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Your righteousness must EXCEED the Pharisees. The Pharisees did it all, BUT for ALL the
wrong reasons. We as Christian Americans say,
‘I have a right to stand up for my rights.’
We have a reason but NOT a right to.
Jesus rebuked the religious people the most. There’s a time to say something. Are we doing it
because it’s the right thing to do? Or, are we doing it for us to be SEEN? When people are critical,
they are usually doing it themselves.
Matthew 5:11
“Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you,
and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.
Rejoice and be glad if someone persecutes you for righteousness.
> Too many people think church is a ritual.
> And for others it is just a habit.
Do something this week to bless someone secretly.
