In Matthew 13:15, it says,
“For the heart of this people has grown dull,
Their ears are hard of hearing,
And their eyes they have closed,
Lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears,
Lest they should understand with their heart and turn,
So that I should HEAL them”
So, Jesus is saying the Word got sown but there were issues that kept it from producing. They had eyes, but they weren’t perceiving. They could hear with their ears, but they weren’t understanding. If they would understand the Word, then that’s when Jesus would be able to work in their lives in healing.
The parable of the soils is about what you see, what you hear, and what you understand. When situations arise in your life and you need the Word of God to be at work, are you quick to see Jesus? Because that’s what this parable is all about. If you don’t understand this parable, you won’t understand any of them.
So, the foundation here is a revelation of WHOJesus Christ is.
What is your response when you hear the Word of God? That dictates and gives you an idea of the kind of soil of your heart.
In Matthew 13:16-17, Jesus says,
“But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear;
for assuredly, I say to you that many prophets and righteous men
desired to see what you see, and did not see it,
and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.”
What’s your response? “Oh, I’ve heard that before.” Only 1 out of 4 times did it produce harvest.
In Matthew 13:19, Jesus says,
“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does notunderstand it,
then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.
This is he who received seed by the wayside.”
Jesus identified why the Word was not able to produce. Understanding means to grasp the meaning…
the value of something.
In Proverbs 4:20, it says,
“My son, give attentionto my words; Incline your ear to my saying.”
And in Proverbs 4:1, 5-7, it says,
“Hear, my children, the instruction of a father, and give attention to know understanding.
Get wisdom! Get understanding! Do not forget, nor turn away from the words of my mouth.
Do not forsake her, and she will preserve you; Love her, and she will keep you.
Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom,
And in all your getting, get understanding.”
Give attention to My Words. There’s a difference between what you’ve heard and what you know. When you understand that the Word is what’s valuable, that’s when it can produce in your life.
