“Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers
in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”
Be an example. Our conduct is important. Step one is speaking the right words and step two is our actions. What we say tends to become what we do. You need to practice what you preach. We are called to influence the people around us. Sometimes our actions speak louder than our words. You can have Faith, Hope and Peace during the midst of your storm. Life without hope, is useless.
James 1:22-24
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing
his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and
immediately forgets what kind of man he was.”
Our we actually doing what the Bible says to do?
Colossians 3:17
“And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him.”
We want to be doers of the Word and not sayers. If you do it in word or in deed, do it ALL in the name of Jesus.
We want to have the Word in us.
Ephesians 5:26
“He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word”
God’s Word can cleanse us. His cleansing power washes away everything in us. You need to find specific scriptures for what you are going through.
Proverbs 3:5, 8
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding;
It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones.”
It cuts right into this, like a sword. Then, you can STAND on it! We need to be specific with God’s Word.
We need to KNOW the Word.
How Do We Conduct Ourselves?
Walk in love. Walk in Faith. (Walk by faith, not by what you see. We can be steady because of what the Word says.) Follow those who follow Christ. Treat others the way we want to be treated.
The Golden Rule
Matthew 7:12
“’Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you.
This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets.’”
Gold is a standard by which others are compared to (at least it used to be).
Love Your Neighbor
If we start to learn how to treat others, and do it, we start becoming an example. If you do this, you will see a difference in you AND the people around you. We want to love the Lord our God with ALL our heart.
How We Know We Are Christians
1 John 3:10-18
“So now we can tell who are children of God and who are children of the devil.
Anyone who does not live righteously and does not love other believers does not belong to God.
This is the message you have heard from the beginning: We should love one another. We must not be like Cain, who belonged to the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because Cain had been doing what was evil, and hisbrother had been doing what was righteous. So don’t be surprised, dear brothers and sisters, if the world hates you.
If we love our Christian brothers and sisters, it proves that we have passed from death to life. But a person who has no love is still dead. Anyone who hates another brother or sister is really a murderer at heart. And you know that murderers don’t have eternal life within them.
We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters. If someone has enough money to live well and sees a brother or sister in need but shows no compassion—how can God’s love be in that person?
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
Follow words up with ACTION. Love requires action.
