Have you ever employed a tax consultant or a financial planner to help you with long-range goals? If so, you know that these people are very interested in how and where you invest.
In the spiritual realm, God is also concerned that you have a long-range "investment program." He knows your happiness in the long run will depend on the seeds you sow in faith today.
Some of the areas He would have you "invest" in (through prayer, deeds or finances) seem perfectly logical because you can foresee fairly quick results. But investing in other areas is more like "flying blind." Giving to far-off missions, spending hours interceding for people you've never met, or any other act of pure obedience takes courage.
Yet God greatly desires that we sow seeds of investment far and wide:
"Happy and fortunate are you who cast your seed upon all waters (...you will find it after many days in an abundant harvest)...Cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days" (Isaiah 32:20; Ecc 11:1, AMP)
