Joshua 1:7
Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law,
which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou
mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
In other words, don’t be anything but strong. Only strong!
> Don’t be afraid.
> Don’t be weak.
> Don’t be uncertain.
‘Joshua, you be strong! Be courageous to grab a hold of what I’m telling you.’
Joshua 1:9
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
So, three times God said this command to Joshua – ‘Be Strong.’ Now listen, if you know anything about God, if you’ve ever heard anything about His Word, then you know that when God starts throwing around this little word, ‘BE,’ watch your back. Things change. Stuff happens. God is looking into this man and speaking into Him strength, courage, boldness.
So perhaps in Joshua there was a lack of that boldness. What did God do? He’s just the same way
He spoke into nothingness on day one of Creation. He spoke into Joshua and He said,
‘Boldness, BE! Strength, BE! Courage, BE!’
And listen, He’s doing the same thing in your right now and by the Word of the Lord I’m going to speak
that into your lives,
‘Strength, BE! Courage, BE! Courage, BE!’
Be bold beyond the uncertainty. Be bold where your future is concerned. Be bold in God. Be bold in His Word
and grab a hold of what God has told you.
Boldness must have a source. Boldness without a source is just stupidity. You can’t fake boldness. It has to have source and Joshua’s source for boldness is right here in Joshua chapter 1, verse 9:
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed:
for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.
That my friend is your source for boldness.
Your God is with you.
He will not leave you.
He will not forsake you.
Amen.
