X It’s not to have a job.
X It’s not just to try and find a mate.
X It’s not to just try and survive.
X It’s not just to try and make it.
X It’s not just to go to work tomorrow.
There is a reason you’re here. And it is the same reason that every one of us is here. Now, I don’t
hear anybody talk about it a whole lot, but if you ever get a hold of this one reason, why we’re here,
it will change a lot of the way you approach life.
I’m going to do something different. I usually take the whole message and answer my question at
the end of it. So the first thing I’m going to do this morning is I’m going to answer the question right
off the bat, and then I’m going to go back and show you what that means.
You are here for His pleasure. Period. You are here to bring God pleasure.
So why is it everybody lives life to bring themselves pleasure? You are here to bring Him pleasure.
And you know why everyone is so miserable? Because they’re trying to bring themselves pleasure.
And the pursuit of trying to bring yourself pleasure that creates your misery. Because God never
designed you to please you. You are designed to please Him. And happiness comes when I put a
smile on God’s face; not my face.
The first 10 years of this ministry I had another kind of pulpit from ‘91 to about 2000. And it had a
big plaque put across the front of it and nobody could read it but me. So every time I got up in the
pulpit for 10 years I reminded myself of something until it got in my heart real good. I would get up
in the pulpit, lay my notes out, and at the top of the pulpit and it said, ‘It’s not about you.' I didn’t do
that for y’all. I did it to remind myself of that because those were very unpleasurable years. Those
years weren’t fun. A lot of years haven’t been fun, but those were not fun times; those were gutting
out times. So whenever the enemy would want to get in my head,
‘You know you could go do something else and not have near the headache you got,’
I would get up in my pulpit and say,
‘But it’s not about you.’
Whenever I would get that selfish feeling that says,
‘Well wait a minute…what about me?’
Now see, I’m revealing myself. Cause I know none of you have felt these feelings and I know none
of you have never thought these thoughts, and I’m amazed how you leave me up here by myself
when I get real like that.
But for those of you that have never felt it or thought it, there WILL come a time where when you
feel like you’ve given out everything, you’ll say,
‘Well wait a minute. What about me?’
And that is one of the most dangerous thoughts you can have, because it never has been,
it is not and it will never be about you! It’s about Him.
And when I please Him, it is the GREATEST satisfaction.
