‘Why Am I Here?’ is I’m trying to establish in your life…purpose. Grabbing a hold of the one
concept – there is a reason I exist and Heaven has that reason. If you ever grab a hold of that concept,
a lot of areas that’s been out of control, you can grab control of yourself.
Because you fall in love with your purpose to such a degree that it makes you fall out of love
to everything that keeps you from getting there. So as you hear me these next few minutes, that’s
what I’m up to. That’s what I’m trying to do. Some of you do need to get some things turned around.
But it will never be done if you don’t have an understanding of, ‘I’m here for a reason.’
Why Am I Here?
Ephesians 1:4-5
just as He [talking about God] chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that
we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to
adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to…
In harmony with…what is a ‘cord’? A cord is a harmonious sound. It’s a sound that when you hear it
it makes sense. The Bible says that God has predestined you, He went and created you a goal…
an ultimate end in mind; a place that you would arrive. Something that you would accomplish;
something that you would become. He went WAY out in front of you and finished it! Okay? And then
He ordained it from the beginning to make sure that your steps would carry you there. And now here
comes the ‘Why?”… according to the good pleasure of His will. He just wanted to.
Now, two minutes to review last week [Part 2 series]:
✔ You are here to pleasure God. ✔You are here to please God.
✘ You are NOT here to please you.
I don’t know what all the talk show hosts are telling you, but if they’re telling you you’re here to find
happiness, you need turn it off. Because people are destroying themselves trying to make themselves
happy. You are here to bring God pleasure. The irony of that is:
It is in that life of self-sacrifice that you FIND your pleasure.
Because it is impossible to have been created for ‘this’ and be happy doing ‘that’. And if God has
created you for this, then your greatest significance and your greatest success and your greatest
fulfillment will be when you GIVE UP what YOU want to do and then SUBMIT to that reason you
were put here to pleasure God.
Do you see what I’m talking about? In other words Jesus said,
‘You must deny yourself, take up your cross and follow Me.’
What was Jesus meaning when He said that? Because that is a serious topic. Crosses and death
and dying. I mean that’s BIG stuff! And Jesus saying,
‘Take up your cross. Die to yourself.’
What was He saying? He’s saying,
‘Put down everything you are pursuing that you think will bring you happiness.’ He said,
‘And find out WHY I put you here! And then pursue WHY I put you here and all the significance,
all the fulfillment and all the satisfaction will begin to flood your soul no matter what your income
level, no matter how much stuff you got!’
See, blessings and fulfillment is not in stuff and not in money. I know people that are happy and
they’re wearing hand-me-down clothes! I can take you to the streets of the mission fields where
people are working in the cesspool of life and they wake up with a smile and live all day with a smile
and can’t wait for tomorrow to come and they don’t have near enough money to go buy the lunch you
going to buy when you leave here.
But they’re happy.
Why?
Because they have died to what THEY wanted to chase and they have submitted to WHY God put
them here and now all of a sudden HAPPINESS has filled their heart and filled their soul.
Why?
Because you were purposed to bring God a SMILE!
