some comments by me. Also, I’m reading one chapter a day in Proverbs and I’ve included this at
the end of my blog post.
“The promise of a long and blessed life belongs to every obedient child of God. If you are a believer, it
belongs to you.” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ Before I started reading the Word of God and Gloria’s book, I thought we were only supposed to live
to 70 or 80 years of age. But I found out that is not what the Bible says! (Heather)
“All you have to do is open your Bible to find a multitude of verses that tell you God wants you to live a
long, long time… If you respond in faith and say, ‘I receive it! I believe it!’ it can revolutionize your life.”
(Gloria Copeland)
✦ When I read these verses, I’m going to believe and receive it because if the Bible says it, then I’m
supposed to believe it. I’m not going to listen to others that don’t believe it and have fear and
doubt. (Heather)
“That kind of faith response isn’t always automatic. It must be cultivated and developed on purpose.”
(Gloria Copeland)
✦ You know, the Holy Spirit told me 2 words back in December 2010: Rebuilding and Restoration (for
the next 6 months). Those 6 months ended in May 2011. I feel now that the Holy Spirit has now told
me to Gain Wisdom for the next 3 months. So, that’s what I’m going to do! I’m going to cultivate
and develop my faith and gain wisdom. This includes me going back and listening to the
Healing Scriptures CD that we created earlier this year. (Heather)
"Bible old is much older than most of us think it is. It’s older than medical science says it is. [Statistics say]
the average life expectancy has increased to 77.8 years. [w]e might conclude that 78 qualifies as old in our
generation. Many Christians believe even the Bible backs up that idea. But are they right?” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ Okay, so I used to think that too. But you know what? That’s not true. But WE have to start thinking
differently and not listening to the world. We need to actually believe what the Bible says, and It says
we’re supposed to be here way longer than 78 years! (Heather)
“The devil [has] worked overtime to convince believers that when they celebrate their 70 or 80 birthday, they
should start preparing to check out of earth and into heaven. But he has had to twist the Scriptures to sell us
that deceptive bill of good, because nowhere in the Bible do we find the average life span of God’s obedient
people to be a mere 7 or 8 decades.” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ The devil is sneaky and a liar. He doesn’t want us here and he doesn’t want us to know what the
Bible says. We, as believers, are no longer under the curse, but rather we are under the Blessing.
(Heather)
"We, as believers, [have]… found grace in the eyes of the Lord (Genesis 6:8), and we have been forgiven
and cleansed of sin by our faith in the blood of Jesus. We have an ark – a covenant with God – through His
Word, that will protect us from suffering the effects of sin that are coming on the world.” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ So now, we have to ask ourselves this question: what do we need to do obtain this protection and
have a long life? (Heather)
"…for us to enjoy that protection and the long life that comes with it, we must build our ark by faith in
God’s promises and stay there by obeying His Word. We’re not going to live long just because we’re born
again… But to receive the full benefits of our salvation, we must walk with the Lord and obey His
commandments.” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ And that is what I want. I want His protection and long life. (Heather)
"Feed on the Word of God until that’s the biggest thing in your life. Put God first and love Him with all your
heart, soul, and might.” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ You know I have to admit that I was not in the Word like I should have been. But after that diagnosis
I received last May 2010 of 1 year to live, I got in the Word and starting listening to the
healing Scriptures. Now, I need to increase this and step up to the next level and increase in
wisdom. (Heather)
“Some claim death is natural. They say it’s just a part of God’s good creation and we should embrace it.
But the Bible… tells us that death was not a part of God’s original design.” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ So what about all the church people and believers that have told us that when we get 70 or 80 that
it is ‘time to go home’? Ugh, we just need to read what the Bible says! (Heather)
"Through [Jesus’] life, death, and resurrection, He defeated Satan and paid the price for the sin of all
humankind. Through Jesus, God has set every believer back into the garden of His goodness. He has
made available to us exceedingly great and precious promises that are divinely designed to help us escape
the corruption that is in the world through sin (2 Peter 1:4). Many of those promises offer us long, strong,
and blessed lives.” (Gloria Copeland)
✦ In tomorrow’s blog post, we will look at some of the Scriptures that show this promise of a long
and strong life while here on earth. (Heather)
Proverbs 1
New King James Version (NKJV)
The Beginning of Knowledge
1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel:
2 To know wisdom and instruction,
To perceive the words of understanding,
3 To receive the instruction of wisdom,
Justice, judgment, and equity;
4 To give prudence to the simple,
To the young man knowledge and discretion—
5 A wise man will hear and increase learning,
And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,
6 To understand a proverb and an enigma,
The words of the wise and their riddles.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
But fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Shun Evil Counsel
8 My son, hear the instruction of your father,
And do not forsake the law of your mother;
9 For they will be a graceful ornament on your head,
And chains about your neck.
10 My son, if sinners entice you,
Do not consent.
11 If they say, “Come with us,
Let us lie in wait to shed blood;
Let us lurk secretly for the innocent without cause;
12 Let us swallow them alive like Sheol,
And whole, like those who go down to the Pit;
13 We shall find all kinds of precious possessions,
We shall fill our houses with spoil;
14 Cast in your lot among us,
Let us all have one purse”—
15 My son, do not walk in the way with them,
Keep your foot from their path;
16 For their feet run to evil,
And they make haste to shed blood.
17 Surely, in vain the net is spread
In the sight of any bird;
18 But they lie in wait for their own blood,
They lurk secretly for their own lives.
19 So are the ways of everyone who is greedy for gain;
It takes away the life of its owners.
The Call of Wisdom
20 Wisdom calls aloud outside;
She raises her voice in the open squares.
21 She cries out in the chief concourses,
At the openings of the gates in the city
She speaks her words:
22 “ How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity?
For scorners delight in their scorning,
And fools hate knowledge.
23 Turn at my rebuke;
Surely I will pour out my spirit on you;
I will make my words known to you.
24 Because I have called and you refused,
I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded,
25 Because you disdained all my counsel,
And would have none of my rebuke,
26 I also will laugh at your calamity;
I will mock when your terror comes,
27 When your terror comes like a storm,
And your destruction comes like a whirlwind,
When distress and anguish come upon you.
28 “ Then they will call on me, but I will not answer;
They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me.
29 Because they hated knowledge
And did not choose the fear of the LORD,
30 They would have none of my counsel
And despised my every rebuke.
31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way,
And be filled to the full with their own fancies.
32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them,
And the complacency of fools will destroy them;
33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely,
And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
