Psalm 55:22 (NKJV) – “Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall SUSTAIN you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.”
What is a burden? Something that weighs you down. Heaviness. “Cast” means throw it off of yourself. Quit trying; do it! It’s a decision.
In Philippians 4:6 it says to be careful for nothing.
In 1 Peter it says, “Casting all of your care over on Him because He cares for you.”
We’re not supposed to carry these things on our heart or mind. What if you throw it off and it comes back on you? Throw it off every time, and He will sustain you! Say this, “He will sustain me!”
Cares come to us all, but that doesn’t mean you have to let them stay on you.
1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV) – “casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” Carry none!
1 Peter 5:8 – “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.” The good news is he (the devil) may not devour some folks.
1 Peter 5:8 – “Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.” Some are carrying the burdens of life. A few know how to cast it off. Is that you? So, the next time that worry or fear comes on you, cast if off to the Lord! Then, be happy while He does the work. Carrying burdens will wear you out. Our systems won’t handle it. It’s like acid to our nerves, digestive system, to our life.
Believe the Bible instead of what you feel and see. It’s a choice. Cast all your cares on Him and He will sustain you. He sustained Jacob, Moses, David, the widow woman, those in the wilderness. And, He’s still sustaining the peoples who believe Him and let Him sustain them.
What’s your part? You have to thoroughly cast your cares over on Him, and then let Him sustain you. First step is to give all your burdens to the Lord. Second step is to expect some sustaining power to show up in your heart, mind, soul, body, finances and family. Say this, “He WILL sustain me!”
Psalm 91:1-16
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
Faith says things. God is faithful to do His part, but we have a part in this. I will SAY of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” No matter what it looks like or feels like. He’s my protection; He’s my sustainer.
Refuse to fear. Say it, “God is keeping me.”
Why are you still here? God has kept you. If He kept you until now, can He keep you the rest of the way? He can and He will! A part of Him being able to do that is you believing and saying that. Can you see this? Talk bold. This verse makes religious people mad if you say it in the first person, So, say it right now, “If a 1,000 falls over here, and 10,000 fall on the other side, it WON’T TOUCH ME! It WON’T HAPPEN TO ME!”
The enemy is always wanting to put fear in you. Our faith is not in us. Our faith is in the Lord. He gave it to us, so say it. If you’re not going to believe the Bible, then what are you going to believe?
Say this, “No evil will befall me. I have protection. He covers me with His power.”
What was our part in all of this? We cast all our cares on Him. We refuse to worry and fear. Isn’t that right? We resisted it and confessed and say, “The Lord is my refuge; He keeps me.” We cooperated in our faith with Him.
If we look at Psalm 91:16 in the Contemporary English Version (CEV), it says, “You will live a long life and see my saving power.” Salvation is saving power. Long life where we are satisfied.
Always be on your guard for anything that tries to put you in fear: any kind of symptom, feeling, anything that’s going around, any thing that’s happening in the world. Don’t let it get you to doubt what the Lord says. When fears, thoughts, feelings come on you… what do you do? You say, “No! No! I’m casting all of that over on You.” And then you go talking what we talked earlier in this message. Say, “I will dwell in the secret place of the Most High and will abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’”
